Jackpot Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold in NY

The New Year’s Day Mega Millions jackpot is the eighth largest in history after the December 28 drawing named no winners

The Mega Millions jackpot is worth $415 million with the next drawing on New Year's Day. If they take the lump sum option, they'll get $254 million.

This was the eighth largest jackpot in the game's history.

The winning ticket was sold in New York at Brookville Auto Service on Northern Boulevard in Glen Head, according to the New York Lottery website. The Gold Mega Ball was 21, and the Megaplier Multiplier was 02.

The prize got as high as $1.53 billion in October but the person who bought the winning ticket in SC hasn't come forward.

A Mega Millions tickets is sold at the Bluebird Liquor store in Hawthorne on October 19, 2018.

The next drawing is Friday.

More than 92,900 other Pennsylvania Lottery Mega Millions tickets won prizes of various amounts.

The New Year's Day lottery drawing came and went, and for just the second time in Mega Millions history, someone won the grand prize on January 1.

Jackpot winners choose whether to receive 30 annual payments, each five percent higher than the last, or a lump-sum payment.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the US Virgin Islands.

"I'm trying to hit the Mega Millions, two weeks ago I got married and I'm trying to take my attractive wife India on a nice honeymoon", James Shanklin said.
