Arsenal's young guns to feature in Carabao Cup North London Derby

Lucas Torreira celebrates scoring the 4th Arsenal goal during the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal and Tottenham meet in the second north London derby of the season on Wednesday in a Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, was happy with his side's response to their 4-2 Premier League defeat at Emirates Stadium on December 2.

They will have to fight more illustrious clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea for the aforementioned Denis Suarez.

"Sunday for us is a big reality check in our way", he admitted. "We need to improve and also we need to continue doing our way in our process".

"My focus now is analysis of this (Wednesday's) match and also Saturday against Burnley", he said, referring to Arsenal's next league fixture.

"Every game that you lose it hurts, but of course when you lead 2-1 it's worse". Defenders Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi served one-match bans during Sunday's 3-2 loss on the south coast, with the latter doubtful to return for the Spurs cup tie because of a hamstring issue. Football is like that.

"Our analysis shows us it's the first time we've conceded three goals in this process". Centre-backs Rob Holding (knee) and Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin) are also on the sidelines. We need to continue creating our identity, our strong ideas to be more consistent in the games.

"I think he's very happy at Tottenham", the Spaniard said. Tomorrow is the next. "But we need to do better in our balance defensively, and our hard work now is this".

Pochettino and Arsenal manager Unai Emery may be tempted to field under-strength teams to rest their key players ahead of a hectic Christmas schedule.

"It's a tactical decision because I thought that the players that were with us today were the best choices for this match", Emery told reporters when asked about the Ozil's absence.

"They scored theirs. Only the first half, I think we were good on the pitch but then sometimes we needed a bit more of the ball to keep possession longer". "The club is working only if some player can help us with a high level or better than within for us".

The move did not happen for Pochettino, who has earned plenty of praise for his work at Tottenham - with Emery certain he is content where he is amid the United links.

"This respect is by playing with a big motivation and a lot of excitement to win against them".

"Every season since I have been here we have tried to win a trophy".

"I think from some mistakes we conceded and it changed the dynamic".
