VAR would have ruled out Manchester United's equaliser against Arsenal

Jose Mourinho accused his Manchester United players of shooting themselves in the foot as he saw his under-strength team gift Arsenal two goals in a 2-2 draw that extended their winless Premier League run to four games

José Mourinho withheld team news from Manchester United's in-house TV channel after admitting he will have "difficulty" putting a team together to face Arsenal in the Premier League.

Arsenal, who slipped to fifth place, are now unbeaten in their last 20 games in all competitions while United are in eight place, eight points off the top four.

The draw keeps United without a Premier League victory in four matches while Unai Emery's men were unable get their first win in 12 league attempts at Old Trafford.

The Gunners had slowly begun to get on top and it came as little surprise when they took the lead, but their goal came as a result of a glaring error from David de Gea.

The Gunners nearly won it during the closing stages when Lucas Torreira was denied by De Gea, but a draw was a fair result as Arsenal extended their long unbeaten run and United were made to wait for another win in the top flight.

Which, er, could prove something of a problem for the Manchester United manager, with his side suffering a full-blown injury crisis at centre-half ahead of their clash with Arsenal.

"The target changed but in the sense let's try to close the distance best we can and be very close to these positions".

Will he take his United team to Liverpool on December 16 and surprise Jurgen Klopp with a bold, attacking display, or will we once again see a repeat of the past two trips to Anfield - both of which ended in dismal 0-0 stalemates - after Mourinho sent his team out to defend above all else?

Rio Ferdinand says the lack of quality during Manchester United's 2-2 draw with Arsenal demonstrates the gulf in class between Manchester City and Liverpool and the chasing pack.

In the wake of the Southampton game Mourinho's relationship with Paul Pogba has, once again, been a particular talking point, with reports having emerged of the manager, in front of the players in the dressing room after the match, having called the midfielder a "virus". "I can agree Manchester United should never be in seventh, in spite of the phenomenal investment Everton made and obviously the great improvement in their team from last season", he said. It doesn't surprise me the top teams are looking at him.

"Nobody knew it - the team, and ourselves, we didn't know yet".
