Releasing Reuben Foster was 'an Organizational Decision — GM John Lynch

BREAKING: 49ers LB Reuben Foster Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

Still, it was well-known that their patience with Foster was growing thin, and Shanahan made it clear that if Foster was proven guilty of those domestic violence charges, he would be gone.

A judge dismissed the domestic violence charges on May 23, ruling the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office did not show sufficient evidence to proceed with the case.

As for her motivation for accusing Foster, Ennis said on the witness stand, "I was going to f-- up his career".

Foster was booked into the Hillsborough County jail and charged with one count of first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence.

According to the release, the 28-year-old victim reported that Foster "slapped her phone out of her hand, pushed her in the chest area, and slapped her with an open hand on the right side of her face".

Investigators said they saw a one-inch scratch on her left collarbone.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch met with reporters at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday ahead of the team's Week 12 road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Foster was suspended for the first two games of the season because of the arrests.

The 49ers stuck with Foster through his trial during the offseason, despite his two arrests and multiple charges, and kept him on the roster. "I feel strongly about that".

This is not Foster's first run-in with the law since joining the 49ers previous year.

Foster has struggled on the field this season as well as he has dealt with shoulder and hamstring injuries. It was later revealed he failed a drug test with a dilute sample.

A former NFL Draft first round pick is being released.

Lynch continued: "What transpired yesterday - this isn't a comment on what happened there because that would be mere speculation on our part - it's more of a comment on him not living up to what we have communicated, and to the energy and the time we've invested in him", Lynch said. "When you start talking football with this young man he lights up a room, and he's a good kid".

Note: I have seen mostly positive things from this regime up to this point and have said so repeatedly. "That's how we feel about it". During his tenure with San Francisco, Foster missed 10 of 26 possible games due to injury or suspension.

Whether Foster is guilty of his latest alleged crime isn't really the issue, though Shanahan has repeatedly said that any player who puts his hands on a woman or significant other will not have a place on the team.
