"It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren't disrupted by inauthentic activity", the blog post read.

The company says it has built new machine learning tools that will automatically be able to detect accounts that are using such services and remove their fake likes, comments, and followers.

Instagram on Monday said it'll begin removing fake likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity on the platform.

The app also stated in their blog that while it's "introduc [ing] bad behavior into the Instagram community", it's also making their accounts less secure. The company says it will notify the people who use such apps that it's deleted the synthetic interactions, and will make them change their passwords so the apps can no longer hijack their accounts.

The accounts may even be suspended, as third-party apps that generate inauthentic activity are a violation of Instagram's community guidelines.

The people running these profiles will first receive an in-app message telling the app has removed their false likes, followers and comments. Now is the time to keep an eye on your favorite Instagram accounts to see if they'll get a sudden drop in followers, exposing their wretched ways! As a result, they're asked to change their password regardless to revoke access.

You've probably realised that social media influencers' lives are not as ideal as they might appear.

Influencer wannabes might be able to portray an inauthentic version of their lives, but Instagram announced that they won't be able to buy inauthentic engagement anymore. Those who knowingly continue to use this app will find their "Instagram experience impacted".
