Cardiff City vs. Leicester City - Football Match Report

The removal from the stadium took place on Thursday

Gray netted Leicester's victor in their English Premier League game against Cardiff City overnight (NZ time) in the club's first outing since owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha died in a helicopter crash outside the club's stadium last weekend.

Players will fly out for the funeral after their match against Cardiff.

Prominent figures in Thailand's music and sporting scene were also in attendance to honour the odds-defying life of Vichai, 60, who along with four others died in a helicopter accident moments after they departed the football club's pitch a week ago.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel - who is believed to be the closest of all the Leicester players to Vichai - will also attend the funeral. "We are glad we've come away today from a really tough game with a win we can bring to Thailand and hope we did the family proud".

Both sets of supporters unfurled giant banners in tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha, and it was clear how much Gray's goal and the victory at the final whistle meant to Leicester.

Prior to the match, each Leicester player wore t-shirts paying tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha, who was known as "The Boss".

"I can't imagine what his family is going through, we did it for him and his family".

After scoring the only goal of the game, midfielder Demarai Gray removed his top to reveal an undershirt reading "FOR KHUN VICHAI".

"I feel proud. It's been a really tough week for everyone".

Three minutes into the match, Leicester's fans broke into a rendition of "When You're Smiling", the anthem that sound-tracked happier days during the club's title triumph.

Gray's booking provoked a fierce debate on social media, with many fans believing the referee should have ignored the letter of the law and not brandished a yellow card given the highly-charged and emotional circumstances. The first half was a disaster.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho called himself "the luckiest manager in the Premier League" after his seventh-place side came from behind to win at Bournemouth 2-1.

Substitute Marcus Rashford scored the victor two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the match after a surging run down the left and a pinpoint center from Paul Pogba. "We created lots of chances and deserved to score before the 92nd minute".

Brazil forward Richarlison opened the scoring following a fine counter-attack in the 27th minute.
