Pence Knocks Abrams Over Celebrity Support: 'This Ain't Hollywood, This Is Georgia'

It was filed against Secretary of State Brian Kemp, the state's top elections official and the Republican candidate for governor.

"I'm encouraged to see so many young voters showing up at the polls, and I'm also encouraged to see that we have a growing pool of independent voters who I think will break for democrats during this election", she said.

After surprising Georgians by campaigning for Abrams door-to-door, Oprah spoke at a Thursday campaign rally for her in Marietta.

If Abrams wins, she would be the nation's first black female governor of a state.

"I am here today because Stacey Abrams cares about the things that matter", Winfrey said. Kemp is trying to extend the Republican domination in Georgia, which hasn't elected a Democrat as governor since 1998.

"I've earned the right to do what I want to do when I want to do it".

"I want everybody to pay attention to this: They have literally been doing the opposite of what they are saying", Obama said, noting scores of GOP votes to repeal the law.

"I'm not here because I'm making some grandstand, I'm thinking about running myself", Winfrey said. "She's a great speaker, but I liked her better when she was giving away Toyotas and refrigerators", Ingraham said.

Winfrey's first dive into the political arena came in 2007, when she endorsed Barack Obama and campaigned for him in SC and other states.

"You are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering and their dreams when you don't vote", she added.

Lemon made the remarks while discussing Oprah Winfrey's campaign speech this week for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) with CNN host Chris Cuomo. Abrams has accused Kemp of engaging in voter suppression, which he has denied.

In a video posted by Abrams' Twitter page, Oprah recounts her time stumping in the Peach State.

"I'd like to remind Stacey and Oprah and Will Ferrell, I'm kind of a big deal, too", Pence said, in an apparent reference to a line from Ferrell's hit 2004 film, "Anchorman".

A federal judge on Friday said Georgia must allow 3,000 new US citizens to vote in the midterm elections if they show proof of citizenship.
