Turkey has audio of writer’s killing — Newspaper

Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was last seen a week ago before entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul

The Post, citing anonymous United States officials familiar with the intelligence, said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered an operation to lure Mr Khashoggi from his home in Virginia, where he lived most recently, to Saudi Arabia and then detain him. Hatice Cengiz, his fiancee, who was waiting outside the consul, had stated that she did not see him re-emerging from the building. The Kentucky Republican said he hopes Trump will support stronger measures against Saudi Arabia "if there is any evidence they killed this journalist".

Saudi Arabia remained silent as the images, though not offering definitive proof about Khashoggi's fate, played across television networks in Turkey and around the world.

"What was explained to us is this: "He was killed, make your funeral preparations", Kislakci said.

'We want to see what's going on. It's a very bad situation.

She added: "Although this incident could potentially fuel a political crisis between the two nations, let us not lose sight of the human aspect of what happened". "We have jobs. We have a lot of things happening in this country".

Senator Jeanne Shaheen said on Wednesday U.S. lawmakers must send a strong message to both the Saudis and the White House that Khashoggi's disappearance was "totally unacceptable".

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo followed up with his own call to the crown prince, who had forged close ties to the administration, especially Kushner.

'We have to find out who did it, ' Trump said. "I think she's in shock, now even more", her friend said.

Several sponsors and media groups have chose to pull out of this month's investment conference in Riyadh, dubbed Davos in the Desert, as a result of concerns over Khashoggi's fate. Donald Trump Vows "Severe Punishment" if Saudis Behind Jamal Khashoggi Disappearance.

President Donald Trump revealed that First Lady Melania Trump has joined the effort to "get to the bottom" of what happened to missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Aksam newspaper also published blurred photos of a jet arriving in Istanbul before dawn on October 2, carrying what it said were nine members of the Saudi team, as well as images of some of them checking in at a hotel.

Turkish media have identified more than a dozen suspects authorities believe killed a missing Saudi journalist inside Riyadh's consulate in Istanbul a week ago.

On Wednesday, State Department spokesman Robert Palladino said the United States "had no advance knowledge" of such a plan. The Saudi government has dismissed that allegation.

Trump said Tuesday that he hadn't spoken to the Saudis about Khashoggi, "but I will be at some point", according to the Associated Press. "I very much doubt we could pass another one", Corker said.

"The premises are sovereign territory, but we will allow them to enter and search and do whatever they want to do".

Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday on conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt's show that the United States would send Federal Bureau of Investigation agents to the consulate to investigate if the Saudis requested it.

On Wednesday, Turkish media outlets published CCTV footage, which they say shows evidence of a plot linked to Mr Khashoggi's disappearance.

However, it was not clear whether data from Khashoggi's watch could have been transmitted to his phone outside, or how investigators could have retrieved it without obtaining the watch themselves.
