Amazon launches Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa integration in India

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K launched in India

The Toshiba Fire TV Edition, released back in June, included a customized version of the Alexa remote control which had not only volume buttons but shortcuts for popular streaming services like Netflix, HBO, and Amazon's own Prime Video. The remote uses Bluetooth and multidirectional infrared technology, allowing it to communicate with a variety of compatible TV and AV equipment in addition to providing voice command functionality.

Amazon today announced the new Fire TV Stick 4K, its most powerful streaming media stick along with an all-new Alexa Voice Remote.

The new Alexa Voice Remote allows you to control your compatible TV and AV equipment, switch inputs, or tune to a channel on a cable box with a single remote.

A Fire TV Recast bundle including the Fire TV Stick 4K, recently unveiled DVR, and a 35-mile HD antenna can also be purchased in exchange for $249.97, while a Fire TV Stick 4K/ Echo Dot combo now fetches $79.98.

Not only will Amazon's thumb drive-sized streaming device be capable of 4K HDR playback, but the updated streaming stick will have a number of new specs - like an 802.11ac Wi-Fi chip and a 1.7GHz quad-core processor - that will help it compete with (and potentially beat out) the two new small form factor streaming devices from Roku and Google. Once your trade-in is accepted by Amazon, add a Fire TV Stick 4K to your cart and the bonus savings of $20 will be taken out automatically during checkout.

Amazon's new Fire TV Stick 4K ($50) is now available for pre-order. The device is available for pre-order from the website and will start shipping from November 14. The device can be pre-ordered effective immediately for$49.99, and will ship in the USA and Canada at the end of the month.

Amazon India has priced the Fire TV Stick 4K in India at Rs 5,999 and it comes bundled with the Alexa Voice Remote. Current Fire TV device users can buy the new remote separately for $29.99, and it will be available at the same time as the Fire TV Stick 4K.

Previously, the Fire TV Stick had a price tag of $40 (£40) and only offered 1080p, with no HDR support.
