Kavanaugh, Ford Testify About Sexual Assault Allegation

Michael Avenatti, the attorney for Brett Kavanaugh's latest accuser, says Republican leaders "don't want the truth known" about the Supreme Court nominee's alleged sexual misconduct.

President Trump is standing by his nominee. All three concluded that Ford's responses were "not indicative of deception", with one scale registering a 0.002% probability that she was lying, and another giving it less than a.02% chance.

Kavanaugh said it never happened, according ot the call transcript, labeling the charge "crazy town" and 'a smear campaign'. "Those who say that do not know me", she said.

"The accusations brought against Judge Kavanaugh are sickening and deserve an independent investigation", Baker, who has led MA since 2015, said in a tweet. Not because there shouldn't be an investigation, she said, but because the committee hearing creates a false equivalency between Kavanaugh's and Ford's stories when an extensive FBI investigation is needed.

Swetnick, whose allegations emerged on Wednesday, said she witnessed efforts by Kavanaugh and others to get girls drunk at parties so that they could be raped.

The Republican promised a "safe, comfortable and dignified" atmosphere as his committee hears from both.

"I had never sexually assaulted anyone, not in high school, not ever".

The 51-year-old woman said she had kept the episode a closely-guarded secret, except for sharing it with her husband and few of her friends, till the time it started appearing in the press that Kavanaugh was going to be nominated as a Supreme Court Judge. On Twitter, Trump himself described Democrats' efforts to scupper Kavanaugh's nomination as a "con job" created to ruin a good man. Trump also blasted Avenatti personally on Twitter, calling him a "third rate lawyer" who makes "false accusations" and is "looking for attention".

It also came as another woman stepped forward - the third to do so - with claims that Kavanaugh was involved in or present at drunken sexual assaults while they were in school.

He and one of the accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, will testify publicly Thursday before the Judiciary Committee.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations. But in a guest lecture at the University of Utah Wednesday night, she said all victims of sexual abuse and harassment deserve to be treated as individuals.

They include Senator Jeff Flake, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee that begins its hearing at 1400 GMT on Thursday.

"The impact it could have now and very possibly in the future is a group of people who have voted Republican and voted more regularly will just not vote this time and instead say, 'maybe next time'".

Ford said it took her years to say anything about the alleged assault to anyone.

She said that while she and her family have received an "outpouring" of support from friends, her community, and strangers across the country, they have also been the targets of "constant harassment and death threats" and "been called the most vile and hateful names imaginable".
