The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled its vote on Kavanaugh's nomination for Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. "Including those like Miss (Deborah) Ramirez, which by her own terms she is not sure if she correctly identified Brett Kavanaugh or not".
He made the comments at a news conference in NY a day before Judge Brett Kavanaugh was set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee amid multiple accusations of sexual misconduct.
In the written testimony released on Wednesday by the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kavanaugh says he has "never sexually assaulted anyone - not in high school, not in college, not ever".
His most famous client was porn actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with President Donald Trump. Senators were told to be prepared for a rare weekend session and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he was confident Kavanugh would be confirmed.
"I have never had any sexual or physical activity with Dr. Ford", Kavanaugh said. Bob Corker said to reporters on Tuesday: "I'm going to look at this openly minded on Thursday, but again, I go into it with positive feelings (toward Kavanaugh)". Some Republicans, including Trump, have dismissed the allegations as part of a Democratic smear campaign created to derail Kavanaugh's confirmation. Before Trump nominated Kavanaugh in July, Ford and Koegler had an email exchange in which she said she had been referring to Kavanaugh, Koegler said.
Swetnick said Kavanaugh was present but did not accuse him of taking part.
If his nomination clears the panel, it must win confirmation from the full Senate, which Republicans narrowly control 51-49.
The controversy over Kavanaugh is unfolding just weeks before November 6 congressional elections in which Democrats are trying to take control of Congress from Trump's fellow Republicans, against a backdrop of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault. Surely she would have reported it to police if the encounter was "as bad as she says", the president said.
Trump also mischaracterized the accusations against him, falsely claiming only four women had made allegations (more than a dozen did) and said they had been paid to do so (there has been no evidence to support that).
On Monday, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh did something unprecedented, Trevor Noah said on Tuesday's Daily Show: "He went on TV to reassure the nation that he's not a sexual predator".
An agitated President Donald Trump acknowledged Wednesday that past accusations of sexual misconduct against him have influenced the way he views similar charges against other men, including his Supreme Court nominee.
"She said she's not the one to answer if it's time for the FBI to investigate these allegations", Borger said of Murkowski.
Judge Brett Kavanaugh listens during his US Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing to be an Associate Justice on the US Supreme Court, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, September 4, 2018. A Grassley spokesman later reiterated the hearing will go on as scheduled.
He is set to testify on Thursday over other sexual misconduct claims.
