Woods earns first win since 2013; Rose claims FedEx Cup

Tiger Woods wins his first Tour victory in over five years at the Tour Championship

It was a day that many thought might never happen again after Woods underwent spinal fusion surgery in April past year and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence the following month when he was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle.

Two weeks before the Tour Championship, Rose had climbed to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking after his playoff loss in the BMW Championship, but Johnson reclaimed the top spot by a slim margin with his Sunday surge in Atlanta. "But this is under different circumstances", he said. "If I could somehow piece together a golf swing this year, I felt like I could do it. somehow I've been able to do that, and here we are".

"I think now that he's gotten over the hump, you may see more of the old Tiger that we've all been waiting for over the last couple of years".

"Congrats, Rosie, " Woods told him.

Justin Rose, who entered the day three shots behind Woods, made a key birdie on 18 to win the FedEx Cup title - a four-tournament playoff with a $10 million prize to the victor.

"I didn't want to get run over", Woods said with a laugh.

Woods, who started the final day with a three-shot lead, captivated euphoric fans with a blast from the pas to seal a long-awaited win after undergoing four back surgeries since 2014.

"I was beyond playing".

Woods was also in a relationship with Kristin Smith from 2015 to 2017.

Eighteen starts in 2018 is more than his previous full season in 2013 and the most PGA Tour starts in a calendar year for Woods since 2012.

And only a dramatic birdie on the 72nd hole from Rose prevented Woods from claiming the overall FedEx Cup title as well.

Woods is still two wins short of Sam Sneads' record of 82 PGA titles and five wins away from surpassing 18-time major victor Jack Nicklaus. I looked back, and then I saw all the crowd just swamping down the fairway, too, and the atmosphere around the 18th green.

Who else has Tiger Woods dated?

"It was just a grind out there", Woods said of his final round.

He won five times in 2013, but injuries cost him the best part of five years. He came close to winning at the Valspar Invitational and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, posting two top fives.
