People everywhere walk out in solidarity with sexual assault survivors

President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh looks over his notes during a third round of questioning on the third day of his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing Thursday Sept. 6 2018 on Capitol Hill in Washington

Mr Trump, himself accused during the 2016 presidential race of sexual misconduct with numerous women, twice offered words of support for Mr Kavanaugh while in NY to attend the UN General Assembly. Colorado resident Deborah Ramirez tells The New Yorker Kavanaugh thrust his penis in her face at a party and caused her to touch it without her consent. But they shouldn't bode well for Kavanaugh's confirmation, despite the protestations of Republicans like Rep. Steve King who said of Blasey Ford's allegation: "How can you disprove something like that?"

Professor Christine Blasey Ford, who came forward last week, has agreed to be questioned publicly at a committee hearing on Thursday. Kavanaugh denies both allegations.

He spoke as Kavanaugh's nomination appeared in peril after The New Yorker published the account of a second woman who says he exposed himself to her while they were students at Yale. But withholding the allegations would prevent Kavanaugh from having to answer to significant allegations. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., called for the panel to postpone the hearing following the latest allegation.

He said the judiciary committee should hear from Dr Ford and "then we should vote". Kerri Kupec, an administration spokesperson, claimed that the new allegation was part of a "coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats created to tear down a good man".

"But the way my Democratic colleagues have approached these allegations makes clear that the driving objective here is not truth, but politics", Sen.

"Our mutual faith teaches that any sexual abuse or assault in any context is contemptible and worthy of the most severe condemnation", the group said in a statement. Then, like now, another Republican president had selected a Supreme Court nominee, now-Justice Clarence Thomas, facing accusations of sexual harassment. After a meeting at the United Nations in New York City Monday morning, Trump told reporters that Kavanaugh is "a fine man with an unblemished past" and that the accusations were "highly unsubstantiated" and "totally political".

"I didn't see it; I never heard of it happening", said the woman, who was married to a male classmate who was alleged to have been involved. Katz requested that the hearing be held next Thursday, and that Kavanaugh testify before Ford, among other requests.

Reports say Ford's lawyers - Debra Katz, Lisa Banks and Michael Bromwich - agree she will go first, to be followed by Kavanaugh.

Democratic staffers on the Judiciary Committee who did not work for Feinstein contacted Bennet's office asking for a connection for Ramirez should she decide to come forward with allegations about Kavanaugh, the spokesperson said.

McConnell's anger comes out of the news, which has seeped out over the past 10 days, of two women going on the record with allegations against Kavanaugh - one allegation of sexual assault in high school and another allegation of inappropriate sexual behavior in college.

Senator Orrin Hatch, a Republican member of the committee, castigated the Democrats. The committee said all three told investigators that they had no recollection of the evening in question.

A conservative strategist and defender of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh apologized Friday for making "an appalling and inexcusable mistake" when he claimed Thursday that Kavanaugh's accuser had misidentified her alleged assailant as Kavanaugh.

It's unclear whether these protests will have any effect on the Senate Republicans, who seem dead set on holding a vote, regardless of the mounting accusations against Kavanaugh.
