Bills Notch Historic Upset Win as 17-Point Underdogs vs. Vikings

Buffalo Bills' Twitter account confuses Minnesota and Wisconsin in video

Fumbles on consecutive possessions by Cousins led to Bills recoveries, and they pushed the lead to 17-0. The Minnesota Vikings found out on Sunday what else endeared Bills general manager Brandon Beane to the quarterback he made the No. 7 overall pick of April's draft.

Before you could blink, the Bills were up 17-0, soon to be 27-0, and ultimately winning the game 27-6, pulling off the biggest National Football League upset in 23 years.

Cousins, who threw for more than 400 yards in rallying the Vikings to a memorable tie against NFC North rival Green Bay a week earlier, was ineffective throwing the ball behind a leaky offensive line, and his pair of first-quarter fumbles while being sacked led to 10 Bills points. Three plays later the defense did its part too, sacking Kirk Cousins - who had a frightful game on Sunday - and forcing a fumble. "It was a big play, but it was just another first down". Credit an impressive performance from Sean McDermott's defense but make sure to credit Allen as well. "That's Josh, man. He's dope", safety Micah Hyde said. "I jumped off the bench". "I think they came out and kicked our butts". "Don't do it again, though".

Allen emerged from the leaping finish to his 10-yard run unscathed. He scurried through the line and saw Anthony Barr - the Vikings' 6-foot-5, three-time Pro Bowl linebacker - standing between him and a first down.

The Bills entered the game 0-2, having lost those two games by a combined 55 points. Allen was 4/5 for 34-yards on the drive. There have only been 13 teams to win as a two-touchdown underdog since 1995.

At the end of the first quarter on third-and-9, Allen sprinted straight up the middle out of a collapsed pocket and hurdled Barr 2 yards short of the marker to get the first down.

Allen would finish 15-of-22 for 196 yards and a touchdown, and he also added two rushing touchdowns.
