Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 500th worldwide goal Saturday night in Los Angeles Galaxy's 5-3 loss to Toronto FC.

With LA Galaxy 3-0 down just before half-time, the Swedish forward struck with a spinning backheel volley.

LA drew the game level at 3-3 on 58 minutes, but goals from Jonathan Osorio and Jay Chapman gave the Canadian side the win.

The six-foot-five (1.95 metre) Ibrahimovic delivered a perfectly-timed roundhouse kick in the 43th minute that fooled goalkeeper Alex Bono for his 17th goal of the season. In addition, he scored 62 goals for Sweden in his stellar global career.

The former Manchester United striker became the third current active player, only after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, to score 500 career goals. It reminds me of a goal I did in Ajax.

"Obviously, it's not good to lose. but I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim", Ibrahimović told The Sports Network (via ESPN).

Ibrahimovic has netted 438 goals across 747 appearances in his club career with Malmö FF, Ajax, Juventus, FC Internazionale, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris-Saint Germain, Manchester United and the LA Galaxy, adding 62 goals in 114 senior appearances for Sweden. "I probably have more goals than the guys on the field have games together".

Speaking after the clash, he said: "I was close to the goal".
