Eden Hazard's hat trick ensured Chelsea kept its ideal start to the Premier League season with a 4-1 victory over Cardiff on Saturday. "The gap was 30 points at the beginning of the season.to cover 30 points in only one season is very hard".

"'He's a target man - maybe the best in the world, I think so", he said.

Liverpool and Chelsea have made Premier League history by each winning their first five matches of the new season. The striker looked rich in confidence after his drought-breaking goal for France last weekend as a pair of delicate touches late in the first half sliced open a Cardiff defence that until then appeared in good order.

"Hazard can improve more. Yesterday I told him for me he can score 40 goals".

"But [to do that he has to] spend less energy far from the goal and play in the last 25 metres".

Hazard sent Cardiff goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, who had already saved two penalties this season, the wrong way to complete the second Premier League hat trick of his Chelsea career.

Those two may very well be remembered as Chelsea's two greatest ever players when Hazard is finished.

Cardiff has two points from five games.

The Blues top the table on goal difference from Liverpool, who also boast a 100 per cent return from five matches. "We need to improve, but we are able to and can improve very quickly".

Chelsea rarely offer contracts of longer than one season to players over the age of 30, but they are understood to be eager to secure the Brazilian's long-term future.

The visitors started brightly and took a shock lead in the 16th minute as Sol Bamba latched on to a Sean Morrison flick-on to prod home at the far post for 0-1.

But Chelsea star Eden Hazard scored in the 37th and 44th minute respectively to give the Blues the lead thanks to Frenchman Olivier Giroud who provided the assists.

Moments later Willian capped the rout with his own moment of magic with a wonderful curling effort from 20 yards that bent into the top corner.
