Boris Johnson calls for tax cuts for a ‘dynamic’ post-Brexit Britain

Boris looks at his phone and relaxes with cricket fans during the match amid claims of his infidelity with a blonde Tory aide

Writing in The Mail on Sunday newspaper, Johnson repeated that May's plan to follow European Union rules on trade in goods after Brexit - a plan over which he quit his job in protest in July - were a "humiliation".

Ahead of a potentially hard Conservative Party conference, Mr Hunt said the Prime Minister's efforts to achieve the best outcome for Britain "will be greatly strengthened if we are united behind her".

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson makes the front pages for the third day in a row - with Monday's papers reporting the latest fallout from his Brexit comments and his personal life. "Comparing the Prime Minister to that isn't amusing".

On Sunday, Boris Johnson wrote that Prime Minister Theresa May was wrapping a "suicide vest" around a "great British Brexit".

"There is no justification for such an outrageous, inappropriate and hurtful analogy", Minister of State for International Development Alistair Burt added.

"Instead of canvassing tax rises we should say that tax henceforward will not go up", he wrote in the Daily Telegraph.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday, Mr Johnson had said: "We have opened". Again, I say, enough'.

But Tory Brexiteer Nadine Dorries said Mr Johnson would always attract criticism from some because "he delivered the Leave vote".

Mr Johnson's relationships have landed him in trouble in the past. We look like a seven-stone weakling being comically bent out of shape by a 500lb gorilla'. He said that Mr Johnson should "grow up".

"It is not news that he has a difference of opinion with the prime minister and that's why he left government", interior minister Sajid Javid told the BBC's Andrew Marr show.

Speaking to Nick Ferrari, the Justice Secretary said: "His language is not well judged, but I also think there is a weakness in the substance to the case he was making because he has not set out an alternative to the Chequers deal".

"Nor should we assume that unacceptable further concessions will "inevitably" be made on the Chequers proposals".

Talking to Julia Hartley-Brewer on talkRADIO, Bridgen said he "admired" Johnson for giving the public "confidence in our political system".

Johnson - who announced his divorce this week from Marina Wheeler - also said the nation had "put our own heads deliberately on the block".

Number 10 said it would not be drawn into discussing the private life of an MP, and issued a denial when asked if Downing Street had been involved in the creation or circulation of the Johnson dossier.

Mr Johnson's intervention only partially deflected attention from the media focus at the weekend on his marital woes, after it emerged that he was splitting from his wife of 25 years amid suggestions of an affair with a party official.

Sunday's newspapers were filled with lurid details about Johnson's alleged infidelity in the past. "Personally I hope that won't happen".
