Mac Miller Dead At 26 From Apparent Overdose

Mac-Miller

The rapper, born Malcolm McCormick, was found dead of an apparent overdose on Friday at his San Fernando Valley home, according to TMZ. We're told authorities were alerted by a male friend who placed a 911 call from Mac's home. He was recently arrested last month for a DUI after wrecking his auto in a collision utility pole back in May.

Miller had reportedly been struggling since he and pop star Ariana Grande broke up earlier this year.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, Miller began releasing rap mixtapes from the age of 15, and he held on to that independent and self-driven ethos throughout his career.

Miller was involved in a hit-and-run crash in May when his vehicle hit a utility pole.

The artist is also known for dating singer Ariana Grande before her engagement with SNL cast member Pete Davidson. Shortly after his vehicle accident and arrest that same month, Grande tweeted "pls take care of yourself".

Mac debuted with Blue Slide Park in 2011, which topped the Billboard 200.

ET has reached out to Miller's rep for comment.
