Marco Rubio hallway confrontation with Alex Jones: 'Don't touch me again, man'

Alex Jones speaks to news media before listening to testimony from Jack Dorsey and Sheryl Sandberg

The news comes hours after a freaky video emerged of Alex Jones and popular Republican politician Marco Rubio almost came to blows during a press conference. However, the confrontation escalated after Rubio told Jones not to touch him after Jones placed his hand on Rubio's shoulder while the senator was speaking to reporters.

Ahead of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee Wednesday, Jones confronted CNN's Oliver Darcy outside the hearing room, accusing the reporter of leading a campaign to purge Infowars from the Internet.

At that point, Rubio tried to get back on topic, taking questions from the journalists and ignoring Jones. Who is this guy? I swear to God.

After a security guard asked a highly agitated Jones to back off, Rubio said, "I'll take care of you myself". His organization, InfoWars, spreads demonstrably false information and conspiracy theories on a host of issues, including claiming that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax. "As the president says, it is a witch hunt, but it's beyond a witch hunt", Jones said earlier Wednesday. But the real takeaway from this encounter is that the de-platforming of Infowars is working-Jones is going to be reduced to stunts like this one to attract any attention.

Twitter had previously suspended Jones for a week.

At that, Rubio paused to look at Jones and said, "This dude's weird, man". He's so mad! You won't silence me.

"You're not gonna get arrested", Rubio told him. "You're not going to silence me".

"Oh, you want me arrested?" I know cocktail shrimp with more backbone than him.

Rubio laughed off the comments, but Jones continued.

Jones proceeded to call the Cuban American politician "a little gangster thug". He repeatedly talked over Mr. Rubio's answers about Facebook and Twitter. I still find the man's actions and dedication to making sure that Twitter is a "public square" where anyone can speak to be a bit shortsighted, as too often those defending themselves from harassment get banned while their harassers go free.
