NVIDIA Just Announced The GeForce RTX 20 Series Featuring New Turing Architecture

Nvidia announces new raytracing-focused RTX 2080, 2080 Ti graphics cards

NVIDIA has officially announced its next-gen GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards, here in Cologne, Germany at their huge GeForce Gaming Celebration event.

We're expecting to hear out first details about the upcoming Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics cards on this evening, hopefully with the release date and some news about pricing being given up too.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX series brings real-time ray tracing, artificial intelligence, and programmable shading together for a new PC gaming experience.

The webpage update, which went live a bit before the press conference, wrapped also promised to show off videos of "Shadow of the Tomb Raider", "Metro Exodus", and "Battlefield V" illustrating how the new lighting tech and cards would impact the games. Nvidia says that Turing delivers up to 6X the performance of to previous-generation Pascal GPUs.

There are three variations of the GeForce RTX. With 4,352 CUDA cores and 11GB of GDDR6 video memory with a speed of 14Gbps and bandwidth of 616 GB/s, the new graphics card has some serious pixel-pushing power.

As expected, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is the mack daddy of the family with a whopping 4352 CUDA cores. Next is the RTX 2080 which has 8 Giga Rays per second, 60 trillion RTX-OPS, and 8 GB frame buffer. We should mention that the NVIDIA Founders Editions of these cards will ship at $1,199, $799 and $599 respectively. Pre-orders for the two higher-end models have already begun, and retail availability is set for September 20. MSI's Gaming Trio and Duke series feature dual-slot triple fan cooling solutions and overclocked GPUs. These new GPUs will also feature the standard NVIDIA features such as Showplay, VR support, 4K output, DirectX 12 support, G-Sync, HDR and many more. Some specs of the RTX were leaked over the weekend, and confirmed by the company on Monday.
