Arsenal boss, Emery, keeps faith in Cech for Chelsea return

Arsenal keeper Cech left frustrated after being mocked on Twitter over weekend gaffe

The official English Twitter account of German club Bayer Leverkusen, whose former goalkeeper Bernd Leno represents Arsenal starting this season, had a cheeky reply of their own to Cech's gaffe. He has experience, he has quality, he has the capacity'.

According to reports in the Star, Unai Emery is unhappy with the weight of some of his players in the Arsenal squad and believes they are "too fat".

Unai Emery has insisted Petr Cech will continue to be his number one despite the Premier League veteran's shaky start to the campaign against Manchester City on Sunday.

For me it's very important he stays with us.

Cech, who spent 11 years at Chelsea before joining Arsenal in 2015, almost scored a comical own goal against City as a misplaced pass across his own area went just wide of the post.

After taking over from Arsene Wenger, Emery has emphasised the importance of using the goalkeeper to help play the ball out from the back, and it was clear that his players are still getting used to the new system.

Bernd Leno joined Arsenal from Leverkusen over the summer for a reported £19.2m.

Looking ahead to Saturday's London derby, Emery made it clear that finding his feet at Arsenal is going to take time.

He also failed to make an attempt to stop Raheem Sterling's goal, prompting a lot of criticism from fans, who called for new signing Berndt Leno to start. However, it is not an excuse for some of the things we saw.

Earlier in the day, Spurs entertain Fulham at Wembley, but Chelsea vs Arsenal is undoubtedly the big one when it comes to Saturday's clashes involving two London teams. This week Nacho Monreal is working every day, training every day with us.

The Gunners began life under the Spaniard with a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City last weekend, but their is no shame in that, considering the quality of Pep Guardiola's side. Luckily for the Gunners, Nacho Monreal has returned to full training and could deputize against Chelsea, or Stephan Lichtsteiner could move over from right back to play left back.
