Don't forget we're the best, Guardiola tells City stars

City rarely looked troubled by Arsenal as the champions opened their Premier League title defence with a 2-0 victory on Sunday.

Raheem Sterling at Manchester City under Guardiola has just been fantastic.

Unai Emery's appointment as the new Arsenal manager has sparked quite a lot of debates and discussions - some revelling in his three consecutive UEFA Europa League triumphs with Sevilla while many pointing out his underwhelming stint at Paris Saint-Germain.

Petr Cech believes that Arsenal could have taken a point from their Premier League meeting with Manchester City had they been more decisive in the final third.

His Arsenal side will host Manchester City on Sunday before travelling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea next weekend.

Pep Guardiola's team are fancied once more, and who'd put it past them to be lifting the title again in May. Last term, it was a 4-3 win over Leicester City and two seasons ago, it was a 4-3 loss to Liverpool. This was where we left off last season: electric going forward, but capable of slowing the game down and dominating the ball when necessary. Emery has spent the most part of the preseason drilling his players and infusing in them his footballing philosophies and ideas to help them become a better team. People say now we have to forget what we did last season.

So I think that Arsenal will have a revolutionary line-up with safety in mind, but also introducing many of his new arrivals and featuring all of his vice-captains.

Unai Emery has declared his desire to keep Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal, but insists he will not be the one to handle the contract negotiations. "I'm not rigid to stick to one formation or way of playing".

Indeed, key men Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane were left out of the starting line-up, as was Vincent Kompany.

"It will be a really close battle to make the top four; Arsenal and Chelsea will push Manchester United all of the way and have an outside chance of claiming a Champions League place", Keown told BBC Sport. The new goalkeeper from Bayer Leverkusen might get the nod for his superior ability to play with the ball at his feet - a prerequisite against a team like City.
