Local media is reporting up to 10 people, possibly including a child, have been involved in a shooting in Greektown, The Star reports. It is unclear if the suspect was hit by police fire. "And then, I saw the carnage as I ran down the street here to kind of follow the gunfire", he told CTV.
The mother and her adult son, he said, were both shot in the legs or lower body, but have now been treated and released from hospital. The user tweeted, "So scary!"
Mr Tory called the shooting an "unspeakable" incident, and reiterated a police plea for any members of the public who were in the area to come forward with information. No update on the conditions of the victims is available at this time.
Paramedics, firefighters and police converged on the shooting in Toronto's east end, which has many popular restaurants, cafes and shops.
"I'm keeping everything open. I certainly want to find out exactly what it is, so I'm not closing any doors or any chapters on this and I certainly don't want to speculate as well". Other public officials expressed condolences.
"This is an attack against innocent families and our entire city", Toronto Mayor John Tory said in a city council meeting Monday.

An eyewitness said that he heard the weapons being loaded multiple times and the gunman must have fired about 20 shots. The victims and their loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. "She had been shot", she said. "As we mourn, cherishing and caring for those in our lives may help with the pain", she said, overcome with emotion.
