United States President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin sat down at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki for a highly anticipated summit on Monday (July 16), amid tension over Russia's alleged election meddling and concerns about U.S. commitment to the current worldwide order.
Putin did not explicitly deny that Russian Federation has compromising information about Trump or his family when asked directly at the end of the press conference.
Trudeau was speaking to reporters during a visit to Antigonish, N.S.
The meeting was held just three days after special counsel Robert Mueller indicted a dozen Russian intelligence officers who are suspected of interfering in the USA presidential election.
"It's really upset people across the partisan divide in ways that I have not seen in years", Colbert said of the meeting.
Toomey added, "Putin insists that the Russian government has nothing to do with meddling in our elections".
That prompted House Speaker Paul Ryan, of the ruling Republican Party, to say that the president "must appreciate that Russian Federation is not our ally". Kimmel ended by saying Monday's summit was a "total win for Putin and a shameful day for America". Trump said in a tweet aboard Air Force One on his way back home.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., called it "one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory".
David Axelrod, a former top adviser of President Barack Obama, condemned Trump's "treacherous performance", and called for a "thorough and complete" probe by special investigators and Congress.
What did he say at the summit with Putin?
Russia's denials, whether it be in regards to its involvement in Syria's civil war or its meddling in the 2016 United States presidential election, have become relatively predictable to the intelligence community and has stoked bipartisan outrage on Capitol Hill.
"The Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs including election process", Putin said.
"Yeah. Yeah, I do", Colbert said. "The world hasn't seen a U.S. president like this in modern times, and as ever in Trump World everyone else will have to adapt. I beat Hillary Clinton easily and, frankly, we beat her and I'm not even saying from the standpoint, we won that race", he continued.
Putin did suggest he might be willing to merge the Astana talks - Iran, Russia, and Syria - with the so-called small group - France, Britain, Germany, Jordan, the USA and Saudi Arabia - something that the French president, Emmanuel Macron, has sought for more than a year. I think the US has been foolish. "In many ways he widened the gap between those who say they don't feel he has the credibility and capability to follow through on U.S. foreign policy", he said.
In as much as most movies show how gambling is bad or addictive, look on the brighter side, it is a good way of making money. With so many people shaming gambling, directors are trying to put it out there that it is not as bad as people make it seem.
