Samsung's texting app apparently sent pictures to people's contacts without permission

Some Samsung users say their phones randomly sent

Samsung phones seem to be trying to take over the world, messaging random users' contacts and sending them messages and photos.

In the meantime, Samsung users can do either one of two things to prevent photos from being sent out: either revoke Samsung Messages' ability to access story via your phone's app settings, or switch to a different texting app like Android Messages.

Some users on the forum are complaining that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are also facing the issue.

The T-Mobile update seems to be occurring automatically, and many users may not realize their phones have already updated.

The only way to now stop this from happening is to turn off auto updates, and then disable the storage permissions for the Samsung Messages app.

One user wrote on Reddit that his Galaxy S9+ send his entire photo gallery to his girlfriend, while he was sleeping at night.

A spokeswoman for the tech giant said: "We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it". There was a record of the message in that person's phone carrier logs, but not within the app. This means that some people who have been impacted by this bug won't really know what has happened until they're informed by the recipient. If you can answer "yes" to both, then you'd better make sure you're using a texting app other than Samsung Messages for the time being.

Affected users are encouraged to contact Samsung directly until a fix is issued. "I think it has something to do with the Samsung SMS app being updated from the Galaxy Store".

At this point, it's unclear what is causing the issue, but some are speculating it might be related to Rich Communications Services (RCS). According to the The Verge, Samsung is asking users to call the company's helpline if they are facing the problem.
