Another accident hits Otedola bridge

Scene of the explosion

The tanker reportedly exploded while traveling on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, local media reported.

Just opposite the scene of Thursday's Lagos tanker fire accident, another vehicle accident occurred on Friday, involving a yellow and black painted commercial bus and a white bus.

Adesina Tiamiyu, said: "Nine bodies were recovered and four injured people".

Below is a footage of what happened moments before the incident.

The stricken tanker in Thursday's crash was carrying 33,000 litres of petrol at the time.

The commissioner said that Governor Ambode has directed all relevant agencies to move into the area to normalise the apprehension that had taken over the area and to also ensure that those in need are adequately taken care of.

Bolarinwa Mufutau, a roadside mechanic, said he had just finished repairing a auto when he saw the tanker rolling back on the road.

Yesterday, afuel-laden tanker exploded along the same bridge after its brake was said to have failed. "I saw the motor boy (assistant) trying to put a wedge to stop the tanker from rolling back", he told AFP.

The Lagos state government has commiserated with families of victims of the explosion.

Fire erupted within seconds, forcing motorists to abandon their cars and flee, he added.
