Trump hails EPA chief despite scandals

Democratic Sens. Tom Udall of New Mexico, Tom Carper of DE and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island asked EPA inspector general Arthur Elkins on Thursday to investigate whether Pruitt is illegally using his EPA post to drum up business deals for his family.

President Donald Trump: "Administrator Scott Pruitt, thank you, Scott, very much".

What's not easy apparently is keeping your job if you work for Pruitt. Two close aides to Pruitt resigned on Wednesday, suggesting that dissatisfaction with the state of things at the EPA is not the sole province of those seeking to "derail the president's agenda", as the administrator suggested on Capitol Hill in April.

Thomas Carper of DE, reiterated his call that Pruitt step down. Hupp's departure came after lawmakers released her testimony to the congressional panel, in which she said Pruitt had directed her to house-hunt and carry out other personal errands for him, including asking the Trump International Hotel about buying a used mattress cheap.

The EPA chief is the subject of several investigations into alleged ethical lapses. So, now it's part of the EPA's agenda to become involved with companies and own Chick-fil-A franchises?

Pruitt in a statement called Hupp a "valued member of the EPA team from day one". Connolly is a senior member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and serves as the ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Government Operations. Another Oklahoma transplant who received a large raise, EPA scheduler Millan Hupp, is also leaving the agency.

"I feel with nice change comes, I feel you already know, opposition". "But then again, I never would have thought that we'd have to worry about EPA administrators living in a lobbyist's condo, or HUD secretaries getting a table that cost $31,000". Federal employees are subject to specific rules created to prevent officials from using their office for personal gain or taking advantage of subordinates.

Some Senate Republicans said Wednesday that their support for Mr. Pruitt remained steadfast.

Office of Inspector General (OIG) has in recent months seen an increased workload due to the more than a dozen investigations launched into Pruitt's spending and management decisions during his first year as administrator.

"I think he's hurting his boss, and when he hurts his boss, he's hurting the American people", Mr. Kennedy said.
