World's biggest investor in clash with Tesla over Elon Musk's dual role

Elon Musk co-founder and CEO of Tesla Inc

Despite the fact that the Model 3 is expected to become Tesla's best-selling vehicle once the current step up in production is complete, the Model Y could usurp it, given SUVs' growing dominance in the industry.

Wait times for the Model 3 are three to four months for an order placed today in the USA and 15 months for right-hand-drive cars, meaning the Model 3 is unlikely to arrive on British soil before the third quarter of 2019.

One of the first orders of business at the Mountain View, California meeting was a vote to determine whether Tesla Motors would keep its founder Elon Musk in as chairman of the board.

The teaser image doesn't reveal a lot. Just like the concept image released past year, it doesn't reveal much beyond a general shape.

This isn't the first time the company has released an Autopilot trial. Production was originally slated to begin in November 2019, however the start date has now been pushed out to 2020.

Tesla, which has talked about building a factory in Europe for years, plans to announce a location later this year, Mr. Musk said.

On the surface, the comment seems to be a joke.

Mr. Musk repeated past statements that the company won't need to raise cash.

Among other pronouncements by Musk, the company intends to make available a $35,000 version of its Model 3 by the end of this year.

Just days after failing to receive a Recommended score in Consumer Reports, the Tesla Model 3 received the Recommended label after improving its braking performance via an over-the-air software update. Between November 2017 and May 2018, it managed to beat out the Mercedes C Class, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS.

Musk still thinks manufacturing will become a strength for the company in the long term, though he acknowledged this was a counter-intuitive prediction after Tesla's trying experiences over the past year.

In June 2018, Elon Musk said it is "extremely likely" Tesla will hit a weekly Model 3 production rate of 5,000 cars.

The shareholders he represents want Tesla to succeed, he said, "but the current board is an obstacle, not an aid, to these goals".

Musk quelled some speculation Tuesday that the automaker had given up on its plans to produce an electric semi truck by mentioning that the truck-and new Roadster-have undergone significant design improvements since their debut.

"I think Model Y is going to be a manufacturing revolution". I'm a naturally optimistic person.
