Stormy Daniels: Trump discloses payment to reimburse lawyer

"It may be that someone reached out to fincen to ask to limit disclosure of certain sars related to an investigation, whether it was the special counsel or the Southern District of NY".

The head of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) flagged that discrepancy to deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in case it is "relevant to any inquiry you may be pursuing".

"In the interest of transparency, while not required to be disclosed as "reportable liabilities" on part 8, in 2016 expenses were incurred by one of Donald J. Trump's attorneys, Michael Cohen", according to page 45 of the disclosure report.

The ethics disclosure said Cohen sought reimbursement in 2017 for an expense he incurred in 2016. "The category of value would be $100,001 to $250,000 and the interest rate would be zero". "The information related to the payment made by Mr. Cohen is required to be reported", the officials said.

"No president has been previously subject to any referral by (Office of Government Ethics) to DOJ as a result of having failed to report an item on their public financial disclosure report", said Virginia Canter, a former ethics official in the Clinton and Obama White Houses who is now with the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

The document is being closely watched by ethics experts to see whether it discloses the $130,000 paid to porn star Stormy Daniels on his behalf by his attorney Michael Cohen.

Mr Trump's claim began to unravel early this month, however, when Rudy Giuliani, a new member of the president's legal team, said the president in fact reimbursed Mr Cohen for the payments to Ms Daniels.

Also on Wednesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee backed up the American intelligence community's findings that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 USA election to help Mr Trump.

"We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in - we're stopping a lot of them", Trump said in the Cabinet Room.

The disclosures, released by the U.S. government ethics body, do not specify the reason for the payments to Michael Cohen, who paid $130,000 to Stormy Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 election. But the president's latest disclosure seems to support Giuliani's original statement. The second missing report covered June 2017 to September 2017, and included more than $2 million in suspicious transfers.

Summary: President Donald Trump declared a debt to Michael Cohen on his recently submitted financial disclosure form.

Trump spends time and vacations at both clubs.

Trump's hotel in the United States capital, which opened in late 2016, took in $40.4 million during 2017 while the Florida resort had revenues of $25.1 million past year. His Doral club, as was the case past year, dwarfed the rest of his golf properties, with revenues of nearly $75 million. If they conclude it was made with the intention of influencing the presidential campaign - making it an effective political contribution - it would violate election law, which caps individual donations to federal candidates at $5,400 per election cycle.

The disclosure, signed by Trump and released by the US Office of Government Ethics, did not describe the objective or the recipient of the original 2016 payment to a "third party" made by Cohen, for which he was reimbursed by Trump.

The ethics disclosure draws a clearer connection between Trump and Cohen and further underlines inconsistencies in descriptions provided by Trump and aides about the payments.

Mr. Trump listed liabilities of at least $250 million, with Deutsche Bank as his biggest creditor.

The form also shows that Melania Trump earned between $100,001 and $1 million from Getty Images, the photo licensing company.
