Nigeria include uncapped Simeon Nwankwo, Junior Lokosa in provisional 30-man squad

NPFL leading scorer Lokosa

Nigeria have announced their 30-man preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup.

His terrific forms in front of goalpost has been rewarded by Super Eagles boss, Gernot Rohr, who included him in his 30-man squad for the Russian Federation 2018 soccer showpiece.

Both Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye are goalkeepers, which means there is no place for the country's most-capped global, goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, despite growing calls from a section of fans for him to recall the former captain.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)/leading top scorer Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo are the new faces that graced the list. Lokosa is the only home-based outfield player in the squad, which has no room for Al Ahli's Junior Ajayi or Everton's Henry Onyekuru.

There are no surprise inclusions in defence with the eagles regular back four including William Ekong and Leon Balogun making the list.

All invited players have been told to report at the Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo on Monday, 21st May. They join Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain in the group of forwards.

The Super Eagles are in group D with debutants Iceland, Croatia and Lionel Messi's Argentina.
