Mumbai terror attacks: Nawaz Sharif admits Pakistan's role

Maharashtra ATS arrests man planning terror attacks

He told this in an interview given to Dawn.

"We have isolated ourselves".

Rehman warned that such reckless statements inflict damage on Pakistan's narrative while apprising at the same time that country has tendered unrivalled sacrifices in war on terror. Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not.

"India always shows aggression when it comes to incidents such as that of Kulbushan Jadhav", he said, referring to the Indian spy facing a death sentence in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif, in a recent interview said, "Militant organisations are active". Should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me.

Rehman, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Senate, said questions were being raised all around the world following Nawaz's remarks.

US President Donald Trump had accused Pakistan of giving nothing to the US but "lies and deceit" and providing "safe haven" to terrorists.

Pakistan's former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Sunday said the "uncooperative attitude" and "stubbornness" of the Indian government has been the biggest obstacle in the Mumbai terror attacks trial reaching a conclusion, according to a media report.

The political parties have not taken the statement of Nawaz Sharif in good taste.

She went on to add that Pakistan's claims about portraying itself as a victim are all bogus. He has been facing ire from all quarters for his admission on the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. He said he was shocked to read the PML-N supremo interview. Speaking to Pakistan's Dawn news organisation, Sharif, who is now tangled in legal cases slammed the slow probe and questioned the authorities who allowed the Mumbai attacks to take place from Pakistan soil.

The trials related to the attack continue to be stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.

The PTI leader said India also failed to give any proof at worldwide level about Pakistan's involvement in the attack.

Congress leader Pawan Khera also called for action by the global community against Pakistan for carrying out terror activities in India. He said he could not accept such non-serious statement from a person who served thrice as prime minister of Pakistan.

Questioning the timing of the revelation, Khan said Sharif was in power for four years and did not speak out a word about the Mumbai attacks. He said Pakistan has been a victim of Indian terrorism for long.

Security analyst General (r) Amjad Shoaib was also critical of the ousted PM's comments. During the meeting, the overall situation of the country and matters of upcoming elections were discussed.
