Windows April 2018 Update Focuses On Time Management

Windows 10 April 2018 Update Will Be Rolled Out On April 30th And Will Bring New Features And Improvements

As you can see, this isn't a major overhaul of Windows 10 - and with the semi-annual updates, that's no real surprise.

While many things about the bi-annual update are known, last week Microsoft dropped the details about the release date.

Microsoft made the Windows 10 April 2018 update available today to general consumers, and I am sure the majority of our readers who are not already Insiders have jumped in head first to try new features such as the new Emoji panel and all the new Edge improvements.

Windows 10 April 2018 update also comes with an enhanced search feature.

Here's some of the interesting new features from the latest version of Windows 10.

"With Windows 10, we've focused on delivering the most modern and most secure operating system. Once the download is complete and the update is ready to install, we'll notify you, so you can pick the right time to finish the installation and reboot, so the update does not disrupt you". Timeline will give its users the power to go back 30 days to find missing items. Users can even find what they were doing while using Microsoft Edge or Office 365 on iOS or Android device's when they return to their Windows 10 PC.

Focus Assist is just that - assists the user with staying focused on the task at hand, blocking all notifications until the feature is turned off, or a specific point in time is reached. What this does is essentially mute and hide notifications and emails for a period of time. This way you're not distracted by a social media alert or anything else that would send you down an unproductive Internet rabbit hole.

The idea is to make it easier for people to get back to what they were working on before.

To begin the upgrade process, click the Update Now button. S Mode allows Windows users to restrict their computers to the Microsoft Store among various features.

Microsoft Edge tabs can now be muted (hooray!) Edge performance has also been tweaked and updated.

"This significantly reduces bandwidth (by as much as 90 per cent) and that results in a much better experience for everyone on the network", Microsoft's enterprise mobility corporate vice president Brad Anderson said in a blog post. While there are ways to stop Windows 10 from downloading it, Microsoft only supports older versions of Windows 10 for two years or less from release. Honestly, it would probably be less frustrating to just take the PC out of commission while updates are being downloaded than to have your machine slow down. As it always does though, the company published a list of features that are being removed in the update, as well as those that are being deprecated, meaning that they're no longer supported and will be removed in a future release.
