Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018: Congress trends #AnswerMaadiModi, BJP responds with #NammaModi

Rahul Gandhi tears into BJP over youth being 'branded' with SC/ST tag in MP

Why 4 crores houses are still in dark even after 70 years, I did what Congress couldn't do in years, Congress leaders don't know our history, added Modi.

While addressing the rally today, Prime Minister responded to Rahul Gandhi's challenge of a 15-minute face off in parliament.

The Siddaramaiah government had recently recommended to the Centre religious minority status for Lingayats and its sub-caste Veerashaiva Lingayats, in an apparent move to cut into the solid vote base of the BJP which has traditionally backed the party.

He also invoked Mysore ruler Chamaraja Wodeyar, Kannada writer GP Rajarathnam, actor Rajkumar, and said the district needs to solve its drinking-water crisis.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah turned on the attack Manner on Twitter again this morning after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's jibe about a "two-plus-one Method".

While slamming Mr Gandhi, the Prime Minister asked him to say the name Visveswaraya five times, apparently taking a swipe at the Congress leader who struggled to pronounce the legendary engineer-scholar's name at a public rally whose video had gone viral.

PM Modi asserted, "People of Karnataka have made a decision to punish the Congress in the assembly elections". The scorching attacks from the BJP's campaigner-in-chief elicited an equally caustic smackdown from the Congress, with Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah leading the charge.

"For the Chief Minister (Siddaramaiah) the rule is "2+1", where he will contest from two seats and has given his old seat (Varuna in Mysuru district) to his son (Yathindra) and for the other ministers (in the state cabinet), the rule seems to be "1+1", allowing their relatives to fight polls", PM Modi said at a rally in the southern state.

Modi also lamented that all development in Karnataka has been blocked by the ruling Congress due to its obsession with family politics. After, he is set to address a rally around 3 pm at the AGM College Ground in the temple town.

Modi also referred to Mahatma Gandhi's insistence on disbanding the Congress after independence, and said with the party facing defeat after defeat in the last four years, the Father of the Nation's "last dream" was about to materialise with its decimation in the Karnataka polls.

Among the issues that have dominated this election so far are: corruption, unemployment, price rise and lack of access to drinking water.

Modi's remarks assume significance as they come after most pollsters predicted a fractured verdict in the Assembly elections, with no party attaining a majority on its own. He alleged the young man had not been affiliated with the BJP, but the party was claiming him as its worker and politicising the death because of the upcoming assembly elections. "This is nothing but the Kannada version of Congress' dynastic politics", he said.
