Syrian state media reported that authorities were work to "determine the cause of the explosions".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said he has "proof" that Iran has a secret nuclear weapons programme that it "has been hiding for years from the worldwide community in its secret atomic archive".

An Iranian-backed Iraqi militia official from Syria put the number at 36, and claimed that only 10 of those were Iranian, according to the Washington Post. But the Syrian monitoring group said at least 26 people had been killed, four of them Syrians.

The Observatory could not immediately say whether there were any casualties, nor who was responsible for the missile strikes.

The second very salient point - not only attacked in no hurry to take responsibility, but also attacked in no hurry to lay blame.

Iranian state television, citing Syrian media, reported the attack. It cited "local sources and activists" for its report.

More missile fire was reported north of the Aleppo airport.

"Syria is being exposed to a new aggression with some military bases in rural Hama and Aleppo hit with enemy rockets", an army source was quoted as saying without elaborating. The report could not be independently confirmed.

Haaretz also said the strike was "likely" targeted at Iranian weapons stores, including surface-to-surface missiles, and that a security cabinet meeting was convened on Monday, April 30.

Israel regards the group, which is fighting alongside President Bashar al-Assad, as the biggest threat on its borders.

Another attack hit near a military air base in Aleppo province, the Observatory said. Tehran has vowed to retaliate for the T4 attack. Israel has warned it could hit Iranian bases in the war-torn country should tensions with Tehran escalate. Israel generally neither confirms nor denies such airstrikes. After the meeting Pompeo said that the USA "remains deeply concerned about Iran's unsafe escalation of threats toward Israel and the region". And it will attack Syria or Iran if fired at, he added. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has promised to continue to target Hezbollah weapons convoys in Syria. It did not elaborate.

The alleged Israeli attack on Hama and Aleppo on Sunday night is reported to have killed up to two dozen servicemen, majority Iranians.

The arms depot in Hama, known as Brigade 47, is one of the largest bases housing Iranian-affiliated forces and equipment, according to Jamil al-Saleh, commander in the opposition Tajammu al-Ezzat rebel group.

Rasheed said that some of the exploding missiles in the arms depot struck parts of Hama, adding that residents in areas near the base fled their homes.
