Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent around 24 hours in the central Chinese city of Wuhan for meetings with President Xi Jinping, an ice-breaking trip both hoped would allow candour and nurture trust.

China and India have agreed to strengthen communication between their militaries and keep the peace along their shared borders, signalling a successful reset in relations following a tense border stand-off past year. Emphasising on strategic communication, Gokhale added, "The agreement (between India and China) of greatest strategic communication at the leadership level and at the government level allows for a free and frank discussion on all matters of interest".
In a tweet, Modi said discussions over tea had been productive and that "Strong India-China friendship is beneficial for the people of our nations and the entire world".
China and India are going to engage in a project in Afghanistan together, as per the sources.
An Indian official said off the record in Wuhan that the Afghanistan project, discussed in 2010 during a Beijing visit by then national security adviser Shiv Shankar Menon, had now got the go-ahead.
