The units with the possible defect were reportedly manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017

Apple is having battery troubles again, moving on from iPhones to MacBooks this time; specifically the 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar).

In a bid to compensate for some manufacturing defects, Apple has rolled out a battery replacement programme for its "non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro" devices. "This is not a safety issue and Apple will replace eligible batteries, free of charge", quoted the giant on its Apple support page that offers the confirmation on the news.

For 13-inch MacBook Pro models, Apple Inc.

Apple narrowed the component flaw down to a batch of MacBook Pro units produced between October 2016 and October 2017 and subsequently sold throughout the world.

Your MacBook's serial number can be obtained by navigating to About This Mac from the Apple logo or on the back of the laptop.

To check if your MacBook Pro is affected and needs to be replaced you can simply head on to this link and enter your serial number.

To narrow things down, Apple has set up a page for its battery replacement program. It is worth noting that you should backup all your data before giving it for the replacement.

In case your Macbook is eligible, you will get the battery replacement from Apple free of cost.

The customers who have already paid for the battery replacement will be eligible for a refund, Apple said.

Apple says that the servicing may take 3-5 working days. Apple will cover machines under this program for the first five years after the retail sale of the unit. "In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the fix".
