Wolverhampton Wolves promotion to the Premier League confirmed
Wolverhampton Wanderers' return to the Premier League after a six-year absence was confirmed on Saturday after Fulham's 1-1 draw with Brentford gave Nuno Espirito Santo's men an unassailable 10-point lead over the Londoners with just three games of the season remaining.
Wolves, who have 92 points from 42 games, require a further four points from their final four games to win the title but have done enough mathematically to gain promotion.
While Wolves can start planning for life back in the top flight, Birmingham are in grave danger of slipping into the third tier of English football.
Mendes shoppers' Diogo Jota and Helder Costa have each had large impacts together with Portuguese star Ruben Neves this marketing campaign.
Cardiff's hopes of joining them in the Premier League next season were also boosted by Brentford's dramatic 94th-minute equaliser to hold Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple hailed the influence of manager Santo, the boss who arrived last summer after a spell in charge of Porto and has led the promotion push.
"What he has brought in has been fantastic", Dalrymple told Sky Sports.
"He came in, he changed the playing style".
Their attention will now turn to clinching the title, with Wolves nine points ahead of second-placed Cardiff.
In 2015, Mendes agreed to sell a minority share of his firm to a subsidiary of Fosun International, the Chinese company that has owned Wolves since July 2016.
