On the first pitch in the third, Arenado leaned out of the way to avoid the ball hitting him in the back and immediately took off for the mound.

Things got ugly in Denver when San Diego Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo threw a pitch behind Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.

What ensued was Perdomo throwing his glove, Arenado throwing punches, the benches emptying and all-out mayhem.

On Tuesday night, Padres center fielder Manuel Margot was hit in the ribs and ended up exiting the game and landing on the disabled list.

Nolan Arenado charged the mound after having a pitch thrown behind him.

Prior to the brawl, the Padres hit Trevor Story in the first inning and the Rockies returned the favor by hitting Hunter Renfroe on the hand in the second. Arenado throws a punch. Eventually, Arenado caught up to the backpedaling Perdomo and unleashed a right hook.

Colorado broke open the game after the melee, sending nine hitters to the plate with most of the damage off reliever Buddy Baumann when he took over for Perdomo. The big hits were an RBI single by Carlos Gonzalez and a two-run, bases-loaded single by catcher Tony Wolters, who emerged from a deep, early-season slump. In all, AJ Ellis and Perdomo were ejected for the Padres while Arenado, Marquez and Gerardo Parra were disqualified for the Rockies. Closer Wade Davis pitched a ideal ninth, with two strikeouts, to record his fifth overall save, his first at Coors Field.
