Odell in the building for Giants' offseason workouts

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr

The star wide receiver told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he is planning to be at the New York Giants facility Monday for the first day of the team's offseason conditioning program, and will "check in, workout in the gym and meet with some people".

Kim Jones of NFL Network initially reported that Beckham planned on attending. "He wants to be great", Shurmur said, via the team's official Twitter feed.

Shurmur, on what Odell Beckham's presence at Day 1 of the program means: "I'm not overthinking this". He also is not anxious whether the player will be affected by the recent hype surrounding the video and trade rumors.

"He's a professional and I'm glad he's here today", Shurmur said on a conference call with reporters.

Beckham can be still a game-breaker, when healthful. The three-time Pro Bowler has played in 47 games in his first four seasons, catching 313 passes for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns. He's averaged 94.1 metres. We had already started communicating before that (trade talk) information got out and was talked about a great deal.

First, video surfaced of what appeared to be Beckham Jr. holding a cigarette or cigar alongside a woman who had a credit card nearby a white powdery substance. He declined to offer any advice. I'm looking forward to him getting one day better by being here.

It has put he and the Giants in a precarious situation during the ending stages of his rookie contract. "We want to grow away from that and try to grow into a team that's competing to win a division, compete in the playoffs, and then hopefully hold up that fifth Lombardi trophy". Through the Giants, and what he's doing, they have a plan for what he's doing for his rehab.

"But when you tell me you want me in your life to help you, when you tell me that we will be accountable with reading our Bibles and sharing scriptures, and it don't happen, then you wonder why things around you start to happen".

According to NFL.com, which cited a "high-ranking executive of an NFC team", NY recently requested two first-round picks for the Pro Bowl wide receiver but was turned down.
