Mr Wang gave out cards with Qifeng's details to every passenger he picked up and stuck a large notice about his daughter on his rear window.
Wang Mingqing and his wife Liu Dengying were working on a fruit stall in the city of Chengdu in 1994 when Mr Wang left Qifeng alone for a few minutes while he went to get change. Kang, who had reportedly been told that she was adopted, lamented how she grew up in Sichuan town, merely 20 kilometers away from her birth parents.
Mr Wang and his wife spent years searching for her in the city and surrounding areas, taking out advertisements in newspapers and setting up online appeals. His plan gained media attention in China, and despite Chinese police identifying a number of women who fit Qifeng's description, DNA tests were negative.
In 2015, Mr Wang chose to broaden the search by signing up as a driver with ride-hailing company Didi Chuxing.
After she contacted Wang earlier this year, it was revealed that she shared similar traits to the child which went missing 24 years ago, including a small scar on her forehead. He put up a sign on his vehicle requesting people for information on his daughter. They did a police complain but failed to find her. Qifeng was shocked by the drawing since it looked a lot like her. A DNA test has since confirmed Kang Ying is Mr Wang's lost daughter.
On Monday, the two spoke through a messenger app.
As Wang anxiously awaited his long-lost daughter's arrival from the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, he could not contain his excitement. "You don't need to worry about anything - Dad will help you".
This past Tuesday, Kang Ying and her family flew from Jilin province to Chengdu to reunite with her biological parents.
"During the past 24 years, I can't remember how many hopes, disappointments and despairs I have experienced. Now we can finally meet again", Wang said, Independent reported.
"Daddy loves you", Wang cried as he hugged his daughter. She had been told by her adoptive father that she was found on the side of the road and did not have a mother.
