Ubisoft announced today that Far Cry 5 has become the fastest-selling game in the franchise, more than doubling the first week sales for Far Cry 4. While specific sales numbers haven't been confirmed, Ubisoft claims over $310 million was spent on the game in its first week, with half of the sales coming from digital distribution platforms like PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.
Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.
While some are still fanning the flames for pointing out reasons to be offended by Far Cry 5 not being political enough, or being too political in some cases.

As well as the hype around Far Cry 5, this is likely driven by the fact that Playerunknown's Battlegrounds has been out for a year now, and sales are of course going to decelerate over time; PUBG was simply never going to maintain the upward trajectory it was on in its first year forever.
The game is also a big hit with streamers, as Far Cry 5 attained more than 55,000 hours of Twitch streaming, along with 117 million views across YouTube.
