After a break this evening, more snow will develop late tonight and continue through Tuesday, mainly south of a line from Morris to Saint Cloud to Rush City, with accumulations heaviest near the Minnesota River.
It was also the seventh most on record since records began in 1869, and was only two inches away from making the top five. A winter weather advisory was in effect in NY, and a steady snow forced the Yankees to postpone their scheduled 1:05 p.m. home opener against Tampa Bay. Little snow accumulation is expected here.
Hard travel conditions are possible during morning and evening commutes with reduced visibility. We could have a record cold high temperature on Friday and a record low on Saturday morning, if it ends up just a degree or two colder than now forecast. Much of the first half of April will feature below-average temperatures across the region.
"We are watching the system for the weekend", Johnson said.
A winter storm warning is in place from Fargo, through the Twin Cities, to Green Bay on Saturday. The warning is in effect from 4 a.m.to 10 a.m. Saturday. The Vernon Senior Center is closed.
The bulk of the snow should fall between midnight and 3 a.m., said Trent Davis, meteorologist in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Monday's snowstorm was the fifth in the area after four nor'easters in March.
