A four-story rickety hotel building collapsed in central India, killing at least 10 people and injuring three, police said Sunday.
Rescue teams and police personnel were at the site and excavators were brought in to clear the debris and extricate people trapped underneath.
The civic commissioner said this version could not be ruled out as of now and a detailed investigation was on into it.
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has tweeted that he is keeping a close watch on the rescue operations.
Primary investigations suggests that the building collapsed after a heavy vehicle rammed into it say police sources.
The building had a lodge cum restaurant called MS Hotel and several other shops.
The building was old and the collapse took place after a auto collided with a pillar put up on the front portion of the building.
"The deceased include two women". He also said that two buildings adjoining the hotel also suffered damage and their residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Soon after the collision, the building collapsed.
The reports said Indore collector Nishant Warwade ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
