Anthony Joshua has set his sights on a heavyweight showdown with American Deontay Wilder after claiming a unanimous points victory over Joseph Parker in Cardiff.
Joshua won his first three belts by stopping Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko at London's Wembley Stadium in April previous year, with 90,000 fans celebrating one of the great nights for British boxing. Browne was stripped of the WBA "Regular" heavyweight title following multiple failed drug tests, and had absolutely nothing for Whyte, who appeared to be fighting a heavy bag.
"My strategy was to stick behind the jab and that secured me another world title belt".
In response, Wilder took to social media, stating that, in his opinion, Parker was robbed and said "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all".
As soon as the fight was done Parker said "Today I got beaten by a bigger man".
"I have a lot to work on and it was a good experience being here". Thank you all for the opportunity.
"Joseph won't give up now - he's still young, competitive and I think we will definitely see Joseph Parker again", he told reporters.
"I will go back, train hard and come back stronger". At 22 fights he has the chance to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Joshua, nearly a stone lighter than when he beat Carlos Takam in Cardiff last October, did enough without setting the fight alight, while Parker had his moments, even if an upset victory never looked on. That particular matchup is slated to be one of the biggest heavyweight fights of all time, and could very well take place sometime next year in Joshua's home of England. The IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO champion is certain he wouldn't need 12 rounds to beat Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs), the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, native who owns the WBC championship.
In the meantime, Hearn, Joshua's promoter, of Matchroom Sport, has tried unsuccessfully to pitch a fight between Wilder and WBC Silver champion Dillian Whyte. "I wasn't going to fall into his trap". "So this does become a boxing match, not a fight", Joshua said.
"Just like Dillian said, 'Wilder, let's go, baby!"
An April Fools Prank From A Wyoming Community College
While Chaucer probably meant 32 days after March (May 2), many readers seemingly took the line to mean March 32 - or April 1. People usually shout "April Fool's Day", when they're sure that someone has been tricked.
