German football legend Lothar Matthaus told Bild: "He's in contact with Arsenal". "I've always worked my whole life about with the idea of who you are rather than how you look so I'm not too concerned about that".
To add further fuel to the fire, reports have recently emerged that Tuchel had turned down the chance to manage Bayern Munich next season.
The 44-year-old has even reportedly rejected an approach from Bayern Munich in order to take the reigns at the Emirates Stadium.
With Tuchel no longer an option, RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuettl and Eintracht Frankfurt coach Nico Kovac have both been linked to the job, but both are still under contract at their present clubs.
Arsene Wenger has claimed that the demands for him to leave Arsenal are down to age discrimination.
"I think that Thomas Tuchel has the quality to coach Bayern", he said.
On joining Arsenal he revealed that Tuchel's treatment of him, following a disagreement over a move for Oliver Torres of Porto, was a factor in him leaving the German club.
"I appreciate Thomas Tuchel, he made his way through the ranks at Mainz from the youth teams".
Arsenal are now in sixth place in the Premier League table and look unlikely to be able to break back into the top four before the season is out.
The Gunners missed out on Champions League qualification last season and face a huge task to finish in the Premier League's top four this term, with fourth-placed Tottenham 13 points above them with eight games remaining.
But it is now not clear whether Tuchel will be heading to Arsenal.
