The Galaxy are coming off a last-place MLS finish after winning a paltry eight league games last season, but Ibrahimovic doesn't expect the five-time league champions' woes to linger with him leading the line.

It has been reported Ibrahimovic's deal with the Galaxy is worth three million USA dollars (£2.1million) over two years. He made 53 appearances with the club, scoring 29 goals.

The charismatic goalscorer had not played for United this season since featuring in a 2-2 draw against Burnley on December 26.

Ibrahimovic was released last summer after a fine first season at Old Trafford ended in a serious knee injury, only to be rewarded with a new contract until the end of the 2017-18 season in August previous year.

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived at Manchester United two years ago, former United great Eric Cantona said "there can only be one king in Manchester", to which Ibra responded, "I'll be the God of Manchester".

"I'm hungry to play because it's gone too long now, I haven't felt involved in the game and I need to feel involved".

Beckham and Ibrahimovic have a shared history of several clubs with both lining out for Paris Saint-Germain immediately after separate spells at AC Milan.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 46 appearances during a remarkable first campaign in the Premier League before tearing knee ligaments in a Europa League game last April. I come to win, I want to win.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future", the team said in a statement.

LAFC joined the league this summer and are now the closest side geographically to the Galaxy on the west coast.

Ibrahimovic's first action for Galaxy could even come against city rivals Los Angeles Football Club on March 31.

Ibrahimovic will share playing time up front with Ola Kamara, the Norwegian striker acquired from Columbus in January. While French winger Romain Alessandrini and Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos might not provide the same level of service as Paul Pogba, the Galaxy starters are among the best players in MLS, and Ibrahimovic must learn how to connect with them.

The Swede could wait to make his first start against Los Angeles next month in what is the MLS' newest derby.
