Mattel Looks Undervalued as Toys 'R' Us Weighs

NPD: Toys “R” Us closures will not tank the industry

Tomorrow's liquidation sales will run until all Toys R Us locations run out of inventory and everything will sell with massive price cuts.

Last week, Toys R Us Inc. announced it filed a motion in Bankruptcy Court to begin a wind-down of its USA business and liquidation of inventory in all 735 of the company's USA stores.

Simon Thomas, joint administrator and partner at Moorfields, said: "It is with great regret that we have made the hard decision to make 98 people redundant at the company's distribution centre in Coventry". If there's a silver lining in this mess, it's the recent report about KB Toys" potential return and the possibility it could take over some of the Toys "R' Us stores which are about to close down. (MAT) and up to 200 smaller toy suppliers who are looking for new brick and mortar retailers. "Regarding the debt against the owned properties-$859 million-those creditors will be participants in the whole Toys bankruptcy case, with the caveat that their collateral is the owned real estate". The decision to shutter all its stores came last week, only a year after the company filed for bankruptcy with the hopes of revamping its business plan and reviving struggling stores. Kassoff said in his post that he wanted to "bring back KB Toys the right way so it can compete with not only the big-box stores but online as well".

Toy's "R" Us will soon be no more, but another long-lost toy store could soon fill the void.

Finally, we increased spending to facilitate sales, including advertising and promotional dollars, along with SG&A deleverage due to the lower sales base, further impacting overall near-term profitability. After that, you risk forfeiting any value on these cards.
