Met Office issues yellow weather warning for snow

BBC weather forecast Met Office snow UK latest warning

The Met Office has already widened its yellow weather warnings across the country and said the possibility of them being upgraded to amber "is certainly a possibility" on Sunday.

The snow is forecast to start at just after midnight on March 18 and last all day.

The Telegraph was also told by the Met Office that there could be between two and five centimetres of snow in some areas.

This means there could be problems on the roads and trains as a result.

By Saturday morning, 5-10cm of snow may accumulate on high ground above 200m.

A spokesman for the weather experts said: "A band of rain and hill snow will increasingly turn to snow to lower levels through Friday evening and overnight into Saturday". And that may come as a shock to the system for some whose bodies may struggle to cope in cold weather.

Snow may affect the Advertiser area on Friday and throughout the weekend.

"Some melting of lying snow is expected, but locally 1-3 cm is possible where showers are more frequent".

As this band moves south-westwards, ice will form in places where skies clear.

"Beast From the East 2.0" will bring heavy rain, sleet, and snow to the the end of the week, likely around Saturday and Sunday, according to the Daily Mail. This time, let's home the snow and ice is gone for good.

"On Sunday we get that snow spreading more widely particularly further west and into the south of England - Devon, Kent, the Midlands and parts of Wales". "Saturday and Sunday will be very cold with snow showers, some heavy, blowing in the bitter east wind with possibility of the snow on Sunday afternoon becoming more widespread and prolonged, leading to some local disruption".

Drivers have been warned by the RAC that they should ensure they are ready for potentially unsafe road conditions.
