The man accused of stealing Frances McDormand's Best Actress Academy Award at a post-show party over the weekend has officially been charged with theft, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

"After some brief time apart, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited".

The photographer, not recognizing the suspect as an award recipient, followed closely then took the Oscar from him.

LAPD said Bryant was a ticket holder for the Governor's Ball, which is the official formal dinner after the ceremony. There are strict limits on how an Oscar, formally known as an Award of Merit statuette, can be used, and a victor cannot sell one without first offering to sell it back to the academy for just $1.

Few people watching Sunday night's Oscar awards knew what Frances McDormand was talking about as she ended her Best Actress acceptance speech with an obscure bit of legalese: "inclusion rider". Security at the event was notified and detained Bryant. He left the Oscar party with McDormand's statue on Sunday. The Reuters video captured Bryant leaving the ball holding the Oscar and saying, "We got it".

Police said he handed the bronze statue back without a struggle and was arrested.

McDormand delivered a rallying cry for the #MeToo movement, which seeks to end harassment and gender double-standards, as she accepted her latest Oscar. His social media accounts also include photos of him at shows including the Emmys, Screen Actors Guild Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

Her first Oscar came for the 1996 film "Fargo", directed by her husband Joel Coen and his brother Ethan. Herrera said Bryant was being held on $20,000 bail Monday morning. Who wants to tell me congratulations? "I got to go".

"Look around, ladies and gentlemen, because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed", she said, adding, "I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: inclusion rider".
