Texans Reportedly Not Interested in Signing Players Who Protested During Anthem

Texans not interested in signing players who kneel agents

The Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins on Tuesday rejected reports they have taken a stance against players who protest during the playing of the USA national anthem.

According to a new report from the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans are not interested in pursuing or signing any free agents or drafting any players who participated in pre-game kneeling protests during the national anthem.

The Texans vehemently denied the report in a statement released on Monday night.

Solomon further said that Texans are focusing on talent, but the potential draftees and signees will not be any protestors at all. He added that while the Texans "are not a racist organization", the team's owner has frequently been "racially tone deaf", and there are "many who believe if McNair could field a team with all-white, all-conforming all-pro talent, he would".

The Texans also made waves a year ago when owner Bob McNair said during an ownership meeting, "we can't have the inmates running the prison". Two agents responsible for connecting prospective players with National Football League management say the Texans "aren't interested" in players who "took a knee". He later apologized, but his comments caused a divide between ownership and players, with most of the team taking a knee the following Sunday in protest.

The Texans, who are poised for a bounce-back season in 2018 with Deshaun Watson under center, have a chance to make a big splash in the open market thanks to a favorable salary cap situation. "I'm 100 percent with these players".

Trump triggered an outcry after sharply criticizing players who kneel during "The Star-Spangled Banner" to draw attention to social issues.
